As a visiting organisation to many prestigious and renowned golf clubs, it is in all RLC Golf Members' interests to maintain high standards of dress and etiquette at all times. Your attitude and conduct at these clubs is very important to the RLC Golf, its Committee and members as lasting impressions, whether good or bad, will be made in a very short space of time. Golfers of the RLC Golf are therefore to be aware that the following are the minimum required standards that must be adhered to, both on and off the golf course; including clubhouses, when representing the RLC Golf, either as an individual or as part of a team:

Dress Code

  • Shirts are to be tucked into trousers/shorts at all times

  • In the summer months when wearing tailored shorts, knee length or short white socks may be worn. Ladies may wear ankle length socks

  • Collarless shirts/tops must have sleeves and sleeveless shirts/tops must have collars.  They must also have a modest neck line (no more than 10cm below the neck).

  • Trousers/slacks, tailored shorts and golf skirts/culottes are permitted.

  • Ladies must also conform to the essence, spirit and intent of the RLC Golf dress code and etiquette.

  • All Members attending Society meetings/fixtures or matches are reminded that they are expected to stay for the prizegiving at each event.

  • The minimum standard of dress for prizegivings is:  Jacket/blazer, shirt, trousers, RLC Golf Tie and shoes.  RLC Golf Ties are available from the Treasurer.

  • Any type or colour of denim jeans, paramilitary style camouflage trousers, tracksuits, leggings or shell suits are not permitted.

  • Collarless T-shirts or rugby/football shirts are not permitted at any time.

  • Outer ‘wet/cold weather’ clothing is not to be worn in Clubhouses.

  • Golf shoes must be worn on the course and are generally not acceptable in the lounge/restaurant areas of clubhouses.

  • It is also not acceptable to walk around clubhouses in stocking/bare feet.

  • Baseball caps/hats are not be worn the wrong way round and must be removed before entering clubhouses.

  • Changing in club car parks is not permitted, or expected.

  • Mobile phones should not be used on the course or in the clubhouse, except in an emergency.  Please ensure that your phone is switched off/silent at all times when in these places.
